AP Poll: Upper Arlington Upsets Pickerington Central, Remains Behind Tigers In Latest Rankings

An action-packed week 5 of Ohio high school football action garnered plenty of movement and surprises in the third installment of the Associated Press Ohio High School Football rankings.

Despite their 35-29 overtime victory over previously unbeaten Pickerington Central, Upper Arlington (5-0) still finds themselves behind the Tigers (4-1) in the Division I rankings. The Golden Bears sit just outside of the top 10 in the 11th spot, while Pickerington Central remains at No. 10.

Elsewhere in Division I, Hilliard Bradley (5-0) moves up one spot to 6th after a convincing 42-17 road victory over Thomas Worthington. Olentangy Liberty (5-0) made the leap into the top 10 this week, rising to No. 7 after a thrilling 33-28 win over Pickerington North (4-1) in another battle of unbeaten teams. That loss dropped the Panthers out of the top 10.

In Division II, unbeaten and Muskingum Valley League leader Tri-Valley (5-0) dropped out the rankings, receiving no votes for top 10 consideration. The Dawgs are coming off a 40-7 victory over New Lexington in week 5.

New Philadelphia (4-1) remains outside the top 10 in the 11th spot this week in Division III. The Quakers find themselves in an early dogfight in the East Central Ohio League - Scarlet Division with Cambridge and Marietta after a 26-7 win over Northwest. St. Francis Desales (1), Bexley (10) and Beechcroft (13) continue to represent the Columbus area in the division.

In Division V, Ridgewood (5-0) continues their hot start to 2016, climbing a spot up to 9th in the rankings after a 16-4 win over East Canton this week. The Generals have only surrendered 14 total points this year, with three shutouts already under their belt. That ranks Ridgewood as the third best scoring defense in the state, regardless of division. Only two other teams have allowed fewer points. The Generals face their stiffest test to date in week six when they host undefeated Garaway, who is ranked 7th in D-V.

Listed below is the complete poll of how a state panel of sports writers and broadcasters rated Ohio high school football teams in the third weekly Associated Press poll of 2016, by OHSAA divisions, with won-lost record and total points (first-place votes in parentheses):
